More information for Participants:

You have been identified as a member of the midwifery community and your voice is important. We are asking you to participate in the project because your perspective, knowledge and experience is crucial to improving midwifery education and practice. Please complete the google form (button below) and ask any questions you may have before agreeing to share your ideas.

The form will help us keep track of candidates who would like to participate.  The link also includes further information on how we are able to conduct both listening sessions and one-on-one interviews. The information you share is confidential and also helps keep in contact with you and/or your group.

What will we talk about in the interview or listening session?

Core Interview Questions

    • Who are you and what do you love about being a midwife? 
    • Do you hold any credentials? If yes what are they?
    • If no,  can you expand on why you do not hold a credential?
    • Why did you decide to pursue midwifery training?
    • What did you value most about your midwifery training?
    • What are the top three challenges you believe need to be addressed to improve midwifery training? 
    • If you could envision a midwifery training that would best suit you and the community you serve, what
      would it look like?
    • What classes and subjects do you want to see in this Midwifery Training?
    • How long would this training be?
    • What keeps you motivated to keep doing this work? 
    • What is it like to be BIPOC/ LGBTQ/ White/ Foreign trained Midwife?

Community/Group Listening Session Questions

    • Begin with introductions
    • What are the top three barriers in midwifery education?

      • it is okay to have people have a collective answer and answers that repeat

    • What would midwifery education look like if there were no barriers?

    • What would it look like to have all your personal identities and intersections?

      • how would this  bring authenticity to midwifery?

    • If you could envision a midwifery training that would best suit you and the community you serve,
      what would it look like?
